Our team was tasked with completely re-imagining a 9-day onboarding process for a federal intelligence client, shifting it from a self-described "death by PowerPoint" model to an innovative, future-forward experience. As the lead visual designer, I helped establish a unified visual foundation for the entire program by leading a series of creative discovery workshops. We ultimately delivered over 20 unique learning products, ranging from paper-based team games, to interactive web tools, and VR simulations.
The experiences leveraging gamification and VR were clear standouts, receiving the highest rates of positive user feedback and winning an award for Future Ready workforce innovation.
The linked video is a declassified sample of the VR simulation where new hires practice "lock up procedures," utilizing a learning mode for step-by-step guidance and a challenge mode to test their readiness in securing sensitive spaces.
VR Lock up:
Role Expanded: Creative Direction, Brand ID, Visual Design, UI/UX
I served as the senior designer for this initiative; my primary role was to establish and maintain a cohesive creative vision throughout the engagement. I led the visual track within a cross-functional team of 15+ specialists over the course of the multi-year program expansion.
Establish Brand and Tone Guidelines: Led a series of creative discovery workshops with the client to translate the agency's official brand and tone guidelines for the new program.
Multi-Platform Asset Production: Drove the production of diverse assets, including print materials, web assets, e-learning games, and 2D/UI elements for VR simulations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Served as the central visual lead, collaborating directly with developers, content experts, and the client to support the program's multi-year expansion goals.
Accessibility & Compliance: Built visual components with accessibility principles from the start, conducting continuous testing to ensure Section 508 compliance for federal client standards.
Confidentiality Note: Projects for federal and sensitive clients may have confidentiality restrictions. If you encounter vague descriptions or obscured visuals, it is to ensure compliance with security protocols. Thank you for your understanding as you explore this work!
